More Productivity with the iPod Touch
Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 3:26PM It seems like I never have a problem out of finding another useful feature in the iPod Touch. Well, apparently there was one that I somehow overlooked in all this time.
The iPhone had a Screencapture ability since the 3G version of it was released. The iPod Touch got it with the 2.0 software update. Once I started using the screencapture its become a big part of my fun with the iPod Touch.
Once I began using the picture for tweets, or just for sending them to friends, the screengrabs became even more important.
I have regularly been emailing photos to myself and its one of the fastest ways I can get photos to myself, its been an important tool that I rely on.
The entire process is so nice and streamlined that its easy to overlook something while you're taking the logical approach to emailing a photo to yourself. Normally I have the photo open that I want to email.
In the lower left hand corner is a graphic that looks like an arrow coming out of a box. This is normally what I'd use to email photos and it worked quite well. Well a good friend of mine was sending me some photos from an iPod, and blundered onto this cool way to email more than one photo at once!
First, you go to your Photos. Instead of selecting a photo, you just go straight to the little box in the lower left hand corner to select the pictures stored in your iPod Touch that you want to send.

You'll see three buttons across the bottom that say Share, Copy, and Delete. When you see the three options you're ready to start selecting photos. You can select more than 5, but after you attempt to email it your iPod won't let you. But even being able to email 5 of them at a time is a real time-saver!

While you're selecting, numbers will appear in each button so that you know how many you have selected without having to count them. Once you have 5, press the Share button to email them to yourself or your friends!

This multiple selection is also a really fast way to delete your Photos, instead of previewing the folder and sending it to the trash can for each individual photo.
Its easy to miss this but I'm surprised it took me so long to notice, and that someone who barely uses an iPod found it right away! There's more than one way to do things, and in this case, two different users approach emailing photos in different ways.
Since its a useful tip, I wanted to be sure to tell you about it. Now go snap-happy, because emailing those pictures to yourself will be a breeze!
